                         TELEVISED EVENTS

TVE is now in its 8th year of providing free information to the
on-line autoracing community.

This list is available in AOL’s Motorsports Information Central (keyword:
MIC)

The following sites/organizations have honored me by choosing to post this
list on their homepages; www.racingpr.com, www.goracing.com,
www.driversroom.com, www.racingangels.org,

Several sources are utilized in the preparation of TVE,
however, I would like to especially recognize the invaluable
assistance of Mr. Curt Swinehart.  PLEASE confirm all entries with your local
listings before programming your VCR’s.

  1. This is too good to be true – a new car sponsored by Viagra?  A
partnership of Rusty,  Mark & Bobby to promote men’s health?  A health
van at each race to screen men for high cholesterol, depression,
prostate problems and erectile dysfuntion?  Welcome to the year
    2000!!!

  2. It is true.  The #27 car (former #30) to be driven by Jeff Fuller.
I can see it now.  The car painted the same color as the pill, and a February
only version of the pill with 27 stamped into the top.
This is joke central waiting to happen… I wonder if the paint job will help
them get it up to speed?  <snicker>

We’ve been thinking of a lot of them – how will Benny keep a straight
face when they change the rubbers on a pit stop?

Maybe the NASCAR tech guys should Rockwell test the frame members. Too
much rigidity is not good in a crash.

One hour into the race the aerodynamics improve dramatically.

  9. rasnm is a moderated newsgroup. However, it is set up so that once you have
registered your agreement to abide by the rasnm Charter, your articles are
automatically posted directly to the newsgroup bypassing the moderation
team. Once you are registered, if a moderator wants to read your posts they
    must read the newsgroup.

This is the mechanics of the registration process:

When you respond to a post or post a new article for the first time, the
robo-mod software recognizes that you haven’t registered yet and
automatically generates an e-mail to you that contains the charter, posting
faq and a form to cut and paste and mail back to the moderation team. Your
article is then forwarded to a moderator to await your agreement to abide
by the Charter.  This will work for people who post from their real email
address, and those who use a psuedonymous remailer.

If the return address in your post is unrespondable, you will never receive
the auto-registration package and your post will never make it to the
newsgroup. The charter states that posts must have a respondable e-mail
address. An address that is munged to avoid the spambots is permissible,
however it should be decipherable by a human. The moderator who has been
forwarded your post MAY notice it and send you the info to register
manually, but that is not guaranteed.  If you do not receive the request,
    try your post again.

If you use an anonymous remailer, where email can not get to you, or you
use a spam blocked email address that cannot be deciphered by the
moderators, you will need to send email to the moderators at
rasnm-m…@carracing.com with an address that we can contact you at, so
that we can add your posting address to the auto-approve.  Addresses that
are truly unrespondable and anonymous are not able to post to r.a.s.n.m.

If you aren’t familiar with the Charter already, when you receive the
e-mail, read the charter and familiarize yourself with what is considered
on-topic for rasnm and what is not. Then fill in the form agreeing to abide
by the charter and return it to the moderation team. Hitting Reply and
deleting everything except the form should work. Note that there is a place
on the form to add additional e-mail addresses should you think you may
want to post to rasnm from an address other that the one you used for your
    first post.

Once your agreement is received, the moderator holding your post will
release it and add you to the ‘preapprove’ list. All future posts from you
will go straight to the newsgroup.

Instead of waiting for the auto-generated registration e-mail, it is
permissible to follow your first post with an e-mail to the moderator team
stating plainly that you agree to abide by the rasnm Charter and listing
any other e-mail addresses you want to post from. But to avoid any
potential misunderstandings on what is on-topic and what is not, please
read the Charter beforehand. The Charter can be found on the rasnm Website:
    http://rasnm.carracing.com/.  The moderator team’s e-mail address is:
rasnm-m…@carracing.com.  If you feel there is a problem with the
moderation software, you can send mail to the whole moderation team, or to
    the robomod administrators at: rasnm-ad…@carracing.com.

Note: Repeatedly submitting the same article over and over and over again
is considered mail-bombing and, depending upon the circumstances, could
result in auto-reject status for the offender.

  10. On April 1, 1994, the USENET newsgroup rec.autos.sport was divided into
several racing-related groups – one of which was rec.autos.sport.nascar, or
"rasn" as it became known to it’s participants. On August 13, 1998 a second
nascar-related USENET newsgroup (this group) was voted into existence:

    rec.autos.sport.nascar.moderated, or "rasnm".

The rationale for the creation of this new USENET newsgroup was stated in
the RFD and CFV as follows:

    ============================================================================

"NASCAR and stockcar racing, as well as other motorsports, have been the
subjects of Usenet discussion for many years. The existing
rec.autos.sport.nascar newsgroup (rasn) gets a total of well over a hundred
messages a day during the off-season and that number can increase to two to
four times that figure during the season, peaking at over 1000 a day during
speedweeks. Much of this traffic is relevant and of high- quality, but
there are also significant problems with spam, advertisements,
Driver/Team/Sponsor/Car-Make/Media abuse, and attacks aimed at other
posters to the newsgroup. Many former posters to RASN have left because of
    this situation.

Rec.autos.sport.nascar.moderated is intended to be a forum where all topics
related to NASCAR and stockcar racing can be discussed without these
distractions. The primary focus of the group will be NASCAR’s top 3 series:
Winston Cup, Busch Grand National, and Craftsman Trucks.

Questions and answers about this sport will be welcomed and a FAQ will be
    maintained."
