I’ve had a real "John Kerry moment" with this race. I’m all over the map with
my predictions and have been quiet and deep in thought (that wasn’t sleeping, it
was thought). But I’m about to come out with a clear, consistent message that I
am sure the other members of the mod alliance will laugh at, er, get behind
(hopefully WAY behind).
Stay tuned.

No problem.
I don’t have any confidence in my predictions–why should I
give yours any respect? :-P

Nicely characterized without going too off-topic, BUT
why leave us in suspense of yore point’s-winning prediction?

He doesn’t know what he thinks.
I’ve had the same feeling. This is a tough game. I go to
Jayski’s and nascar.com to help stimulate the old ESP
juices.

NO MORE MIXED MESSAGES! I HAVE A PLAN! (several of them, different ones, all
covering the same topic!)
1. 4 of the top 5 and 8 of the top 10 are Bowties
2. Top Ford is #38
3. DJ finishes out of the top 15
4. The winner did not take the white flag first
5. No BIG one (>10 cars involved)
6. <= 3 yellows (one of them will be a "debris" caution)
7. JG extends his points lead, 8 and 48 move up, 97 moves back
Bonus pick …
IN THIS RACE ONLY, Kerry finishes on the lead lap and Busch does not. Busch
doesn’t finish and the Army and the National Guard finish in consecutive
positions (01/16 or 16/01).

I have a *little* trouble with this. You submitted 7 picks though, so I’m
inclined to let it go through. Normally, saying that there will be <= 3
cautions, is probably about a 30% to 50% chance of being right, not quite a
gimmie but not really in the spirit of the game. Having 0, 1, 2, or 3
cautions probably characterises about half of the last half dozen Dega
races. However, since you’re said that one of them will be a debris
caution, as opposed to saying "at least one of them", I’ll let it go without
further complaint. With that addition, it’s what I call a good pick.
I like the rest of your picks. Thanks for playing WW!

Thank YOU, Russ. The pre/post discussion really makes it!
You may be right. I ALMOST went with suspicious debris caution, that was the
mood I was thinking in at the time. Oh, what the heck, it’ll be at least
questionable and SOME might suggest a
"bunch-up-the-strung-out-field-and-try-to-make-this-boring-race-exciting-competition-caution".
That better?

Joe gets 8, Biffle gets 28, Kerry is on the lead lap in 24, Busch is in 5th
(also on the lead lap) … 0
-5 on 7 trys
Unofficial race results do not reflect any post-race changes, such as penalties,
which may be levied by NASCAR. Maybe the official results will save my bacon.
