Gary W wrote in message <3645245...@news2.lightlink.com>...
>Hi everyone, I know a few tracks (Michigan and Phoenix and who else?) sell
a
>pre race pit pass. I'd like to know how many of you have bought them and
>what your opinions are. Are they worth it? Do you really get to see
>anything worthwhile? What tracks have them? How much were they? Would you
>buy them again? Any information or comments you could pass along would be
>greatly appreciated. Thanks.

>reply to group or e-mail
>Gary Weir g_w...@hotmail.com

Well I get them every year at Pocono. The cost is thirty Dollars and they
are good for Friday Saturday and pre-race Sunday
The only time you can't use them is during the arca race and during the cup
race.
I get there early and setup camp right against pit wall near the garage
entrance where the cars stop for tire temps during practice. I have had
conversations with Jimmy Spencer, Rusty and a few others, but most of the
time you are just lucky to get them to drop the window net so you can get
clear shots.
The distance to the cars is about 5 feet or less depending
how they pull in for the tire temps. You can also get great shots of the
garage area from an autograph alley area they have .....from time to time
drivers will walk the short distance from the garage to sign stuff.
Sunday morning you can wall on pit lane
while they push the cars put and you can talk to crew members and CC's as
they ready stuff for the race.

All in all I believe it is the best money i have ever spent at a
track, but i don't know what it's like at other tracks.
Friday is the best day to be there because it is the least crowded
and you have the best access to the drivers as they walk to their cars on
pit lane when qualifying begins and after they exit the car following their
qualifying run they usually take a few minutes to sign stuff if you are into
that.
Hope that helped.........
