NASCAR and Stockcar Racing

NASCAR screwed up on the Call.

I cannot believe that NASCAR callled Gordon into the pits for that
fender flare.  If they really wanted to flare it out, all they would
have had to do was a light rub on someone.. Once they brought him in
under the black flag and found nothing wrong, they should have allowed
him to return to his position under the caution.  I am very
disappointed with the call and believe it actually takes something
away from Martin’s win.  What if Gordon hadn’t been relegated to 9th..
Would Mark of still won?  I respect both drivers a lot and feel that
NASCAR should just back off and let these guys decide the championship
the gentlemenly way like they would both prefer.  

And how ’bout that Kennseth kid.. WoW! Bill must be proud..

    I agree on the call.  Being a big JG fan, I’m just glad there were only 8-9
    cars on the lead lap.  Luckily, for NASCAR, I don’t think it affected the
    outcome of the race, MM had the better car and showed at the end he was
    faster than JG.

    Has NASCAR ever tried to correct an error they made during a race?

    Well, the infamous "missing lug nut case" comes to mind.

    An inspector thought there was a lug nut missing on Earnhardt’s car and
    they called him back in.  This was under green and DE lost a lap.

    A short time later they threw a caution and waved him by the pace car
    giving him back the lap he lost.  

    Childress protested the race because Gordon also benefitted from the
    yellow.  Guess that’s why they usually just let a bad call stand…..

    I remember one time DE got called back in the pits because an official
    "thought" there was only four lugnuts on a wheel. As it turned out 1 of the
    lugnuts were black and the rest were gold colored. I dont remember the outcome
    but I think they let Dale recover his position where he was before they called
    him in. Correct me if I am wrong.

    I too am a Gordon fan, but I think it was just a judgement call.  I don’t
    believe it affected the outcome at all anyway, Martin had everybody beat.

    If he had rubbed with someone during the race,and pulled the air dam
    out,it would have been legal. Repositioning the air dam does add some amount
    of aerodynamic help to the car,and he was legitimately
    penalized for it. NASCAR has been inconsistent this year on some of
    their calls,but this was not one of those times.

    Excuse me!  Did I miss something?  Nowhere have I read anything that says
    that anyone had repositioned the air dam.

    The only time I ever heard of NASCAR changing a ruling was over the lap count,
    but not recently.
    DJ was never able to retake his place at The Glen last year over the smoke.

    Was Jeff unfairly treated???  Watch the next several races.  Remember what
    happened the last time my Jersey Warriors got ticked off.
