MRN

Filed under: Uncategorized — admin @ 9:03 am

What exactly is it and how can I get it?  I have read that some people
prefer to turn down the TV and turn on MRN during a race .  Is this
something I can only hear on the net, or is it broadcasted nationally?  If
so, does anyone know the radio frequency in the Dallas area?

TIA

    Yes it is:
            95.3 Plano
            93.5 Greenville

    Hope this helps!

MRN is the Motor Racing Network–at least that is the old name.  I think
they are now officially "MRN Radio".  That’s the radio network that covers
    most of the races.

However, PRN–Performance Racing Network– is owned by Bruton Smith and
carries the races from his tracks.

The Indianapolis Motor Speedway has its own radio network and carries the
    Brickyard 400.

Personally, I only find it necessary to turn off the TV sound and listen
to MRN when the race is on TNN.  I absolutely cannot stand Eli Gold.

MRN broadcasts are syndicated to local stations and most stations carry
the whole schedule.  I can’t imagine that there isn’t a station in Dallas
that picks up MRN, but I don’t know which one that would be.

MRN is Motor Racing Network (?or Motorsports?) or something like that.
you can find info on how to listen online as well as an affiliate list
    for local radio stations at

Wish I were lucky enough to get it! It isn’t available where I am except
for maybe two races a year. Several people I know have tried to get
local stations to pick up the race broadcasts but nothing yet.

  5. Speaking of Radio Mr. Paxton, how is that show coming?  I’m sure
you’re close to knocking John Boy & Billy a step down in the ratings
    by now ;-)

Quite well, thank you, though I think JB&B still has a *slightly* bigger
    audiencethan I do!

Just for now anyway, I went ahead and created my own little sidekick
characterwhich I voice myself.  Col. Lester L. Lugnuts comes on every week
and gives a Leonard’s Losers styled prediction of what’s going to happen
    in each week’s race.

Of course, he ain’t very good–he’s been wrong both times!  :)

If you like, I’ll post the script here every week.  Might be good for a
    laugh or two.

Thats only because that tie you wore to the SHR reunion can’t be seen
    on the radio ;-)

I hope he picks Gordon for the win this week and keeps that streak
    going !!!

That would be great (until we get that Realaudio feed) ;-D

    Hey Rappy,
If you mean ‘72 and later which I think is the definition here
    goes:
            David Pearson – ‘73 ‘76
            Richard Petty – ‘74 ‘75
            Darrell Waltrip – ‘81 ‘82
            Jeff Gordon – ‘96 ‘97

Still working on research for the other question.

Ok, I’m looking for your answer, but first look at this:

    1972 – 31 races

Bobby Allison – 10 wins, 12 second place finishes – 27 top ten finishes,
leads more than twice as many laps as RP, leads 30 out of the 31 races,
    finishes 2nd.

I don’t think MM will top those stats if he doesn’t win the WC.

    First one’s been answered.
second one could be DW at Martinsville.
    Or Dan Gurney at Riverside.

DW at Bristol. I think I heard it was 7 straight. And I’ll bet he
broke his own record from Nashville. Not sure, though….

    Didn’t Rusty win 10 in ‘93 and ‘94?
