A very upstanding American Citizen warns of abuses:
http://www.speedtv.com/commentary/15859/

This may not be deemed OnTopic, but it sure is encouraging to
read that ‘one of our own’ takes the time to warn his readers
about another scam that we car guys might fall prey to.

IMHO, this demonstrates just one more time that Mike Joy is a
‘regular’ guy & continues to contribute to the knowledge of
stockcarracin fans.

Just as Chuck Steak & some others in our little newsgroup
have shared ‘insider info’ like MJ, allow me to say this about that:

Living in South Bend IN, home of Notre Dame, i have had occasion to
get the autographs of some of the greatest football players of all time.
One of those was Joe Montana.
I stood in line for an hour so that my kids could get his keepsake autograph.
When my turn came to get a potentially money-making signature(?), i told Joe
–No thanx (about signing anything for me), but thanx for providing me
with so many thrills & memorable moments.
Joe just smiled & thanked Me!

I’m guessing that our famous friend Mike Joy would do the same.

Thanx 200MPH for more than just the recent ‘sharing’.
No suck-up intended, but i never get tired of seeing u in VicLane
with DW at the ’89 Daytona 500.

PS–I still want to hear from a Catch-Can man about how much
it hurts getting their ankles hit by a spewed lugnut.

ok. I just walked back (a whole block) from Mark Martin Ford where Rusty
Wallace spent a couple of hours signing autographs then Mark was doing the
same. While I was there, my uncle and I were talking to one of the guys that
drives a hauler. My uncle tells me I should ask HIM if anyone around there
would know from experience the answer to this question. He raises his pants
leg, pulls down his sock and props his foot up so I can see a scar. Turns
out he had been a catch can man for Alan Kulwicki. The scar he was showing
me was where a lug nut hit his ancle and broke it. He said to watch the
catch can man after a pit stop… they turn their backs to the car.

If anyone is interested I can put some pictures up, yes, I took a picture of
    his ancle. <grin>

Seems like you’d need something like catchers shin guards or hockey pads
that would cover your lower legs and ankles.

But you’ll notice it must have come out at a very low angle to hit
    him there :-)

      take care,

You’re the first person to miss it, didn’t think anyone was interested. I’ll
bring in the pics and put something together tomorrow.
