I don’t remember Johnny B. as a liability to any racing team. He’s an
intelligent and very talented driver. It appears as though he’s chosen the
year 2000 to prove it. Give a call to LYCOS too.

Johnny is a great driver, and has shown it by being a champion in the Busch and
ASA series that he raced in before WC.  And as for Mark Martin, he was quoted in
an article at the end of last season saying, "We (him and Jeff) don’t worry
about those guys (Benson, Little, and Lepage), we run different springs,
different equipment, different setups".

They also had a different location last year than the other three teams.  Jack
Roush installed a revolving door at Johnny’s crew chief’s office.  Three in two
years I think.

Someone wrote about Kenseth, Martin, and Burton, "I’m not convinced that that is
the case.  For these three, they seem to have the talent and ‘visible’ potential
that the others haven’t yet shown."  Well, I think Johnny Benson has shown in
his first four races this year, that he has as good as skills as ANY driver at
Roush Racing.  And his resume,…93 American Speed Association champion, 94
Busch Rookie of the Year, 95 Busch Champion, finished in the Top 10 in 62% of
his 95 Craftsmen Truck Series races, 96 Winston Cup Rookie of the Year. Kenseth
has shown more than that???   Too bad Johnny wasn’t given the same equipment and
same chances as the three mentioned.

I say, come on over to the good side Chad Little, Tim Beverly at Tyler Jet is
thinking about a second team. And tell Jack to ditch that stupid looking hat.

IIRC, the 1st race he joined the Borg, I mean Roush, Daytona 500 a couple years
back. He wrecked in his twin 125 and his speed wasn’t good enough to make it in.
As his team was new and had no previous owner points he was SOL.

I believe Benson finished 11th in ’97, one point out of the top ten. Of
course, it must have been the car. After all, look what Derrike Cope was
able to do in the 30.

It is really hard to be able to know when you have a situation that ‘will’ win

Easier to get two in ten than 5 in ten. Little is like alot of drivers in he
fits in the middle. The 17 is just starting but I hope he becomes a big
challenger. Benson never did much for the team and moved on just like Craven
did for Hendrick’s team. I think the proof is in the driver more than the
owner. Rarely does a driver pick his team, they have to be asked. Martin has
been helping the17 for years and probably would like to see him do good.
Even Rusty and Mayfield are swappng cars to feel what the other is driving.
Being on a team has more benifits than set backs.

    I have a feeling they are giving Kenseth the good equipment also.  He
has been running very well and is the future replacement for Martin in your
so called "golden boys" division of the team.

    The only team that consistently places all drivers in the top 10.  Mr.
Joe Gibbs.
