Way to go Dave Marcis !!! Dave and his full-time crew of eight managed
to make the Atlanta race, and make it in on speed. Team Realtree’s
accomplishment is impressive considering that well-financed and staffed
teams like Terry Labonte – Hendrick, Kyle Petty – PE2, Johnny Benson –
Rousch, and Dale Earnhardt – Childress, needed provisionals to make the
event.
It’s great to see Dave end what must have been his toughest season on a
high note, making a high-visibiity big money race. At least Team
Realtree and Marcis Racing have a pleasant memory with which to finish
the season rather than another early ride home.
Now, if they can just run well tomorrow….

Yes, but what about that little tiff with Brett Bodine during caution?
Mixed feelings here: On the one hand, Dave could’ve pitted and given
Brett the bonus (which he eventually got, anyway), but on the other,
Dave is my favorite driver and every lap he leads, even under caution,
is fine with me!
Drivers do favors for each other, but is this the extent to which it’s
expected?

Maybe Brett should have offered Dave the bonus money to get the 5 points! I
don’t remember anything in the public rules that stops a driver from bribing
another… And Dave needs every penny he can garner. Giving Dave what he
would have gotten if he stayed out (bonus money), so that he would pit and let
Brett have the 5 points, might have made that deal happen.

Dave said he did not know about Bret needing him to pit. He
said no one said a word to him. He also said all they needed to do
was have their spotter tell his spotter. Additionally he said he
usually knows about races that pay for leading laps, but in this case
he didn’t.
I don’t think there was ant doubt Dave was telling the truth
and it was Bret fault for not letting Dave know what he needed. I
also think Bret owes Dave an apology for bad mouthing him on TV before
knowing the facts.
