Georges comes to Homestead

Hurricane Georges is on its way in (and I’m on my way out)…it will
be interesting to see how the track  holds up.  It’s not an Andrew by
any stretch, but the BGN race is only 6 weeks away. Could be
interesting.

I’ll write again after power is restored!

    Best of luck!!!!

Last I checked, Georges was still a category 3 (Strong) hurricane with
sustained winds of 110mph.  They were comparing it to Hugo from 9 years ago,
saying that this one was worse when it hit the islands (I don’t know how bad
Hugo was when it hit the US coast).

Chris  Good luck to you. Get your ass out of there. I understand the winds have
dropped to 75mph but it could restrengthen before Fri.Hopefully it wont, and
maybe it will turn south away from more populated areas. I dont think I can
afford another doubling of my homeowners insurance.

We’re back!!!   Blessedly storm went way south (sorry, Key West!) and
all we lost was two trees.  Reports just coming in from the keys show
lots of flooding, no power from the mm 100  south, but no serious
    injuries.

As I said before—methinks you worry too much about the racetrack
