Dorsey has done TV work in the past. In fact, he was working the booth for ESPN
the day before J.D. McDuffie died at Watkins Glen. Dorsey was driving the Cup

I like ‘em both.  So far, I think Fox had the better of it, even tho DW’s constant "hey

NBC is hurt by having a weak third member.  BP isn’t enough to carry the whole
color commentary alone, and Wally Dallenbach hasn’t been much help.  Perhaps
Wally will grow into the role with experience.  Or perhaps NBC will bring Dorsey
Schroeder in in his place (Dorsey impressed me a great deal on the Gateway
BGN broadcast, pretty much the only commendable thing about that mess).

For what it is worth, my fiance watched some of the races with DW and crew.
She doesn’t show any interest now that NBC had taken over.  She liked DW’s
creative use of language, and the chemistry between the crew.  She even enjoyed
the antics of the Hollywood Hotel.

I’ve been watching for a little while now (Gordon’s first championship season,
I believe, or thereabouts), and I have never liked a broadcast team as much as
the FOX team.  I have always enjoyed Mike Joy’s work, and I have a lot of
respect for the combined knowledge of the crew, with two crew chiefs and a
driver, all of whom have been active in the sport within the last few years.

Benny certainly has knowledge and passion for his sport, and Alan certainly has
knowledge, but they do not have the chemistry and playfulness that I enjoy in
the fox crew.

I liked the ticker better than the NBC thing, though both teams tended to drop
it in the middle, and I could do without the sound effects… though they did
not give me headaches like some people clamed happened to them.

Overall, I’d give FOX an A- and NBC a B- for coverage this year.  Certainly
both are better than listening to Eli flog products or the old (TBS?) "Buy
these NA$CAR products… oh, and by the way, there is a race on that we might
show you some of once we sell enough die-casts" show.

I think if you put Benny in DW’s place in the FOX booth it would be much the
