This makes sense to me.  Keeping sponsors happy is a major part
of the off-track competition.  I doubt that the split was
a big surprise or a big hurt for RE.  

Jus’ one ‘a dem racin’ deals.

If they have, in fact, split up in a friendly fashion, I’m sure
the friendship will survive.  DE seems to get along OK with
RW and MM, despite the Ford/Chevy divide.  If there is some
rift between RE and JG, I doubt that the Busch split will affect
it much either way.  My offhand, amateurish, totally unsubstantiated
guess is that the friction was between Hendricks and Evernham,
not Evernham and Gordon.

I imagine more details will leak out eventually.  You can’t break
up one of the most successful teams in NASCAR history (rated as
a combination of victories and championships per year of existence)
and not have people wondering what happened.

I’m delighted about the split for one reason only: it may help settle
the question of why Jeff won.  The success or failure of RE’s team(s)
and JG’s team may shed some light on their past successes together.

Yep, and Jeff’s such a true blue team player….Dedicated to the owners and

I never left!  ;-)

I just get amazed by people’s ASSertion that as Ray’s right hand man all
those years and as chief engineer for the 24 team that Brian’s fingerprints
were not on that cars just as much as Ray’s were.

Ray delegated a great many tasks to Brian, not the least of which were
putting the base setups on the car before they left for the track.

Are you sure about this? I thought I heard Ray say somewhere the Dodge
vs. Chevy wouldn’t have made a difference. I wonder if Jeff just didn’t
want a "clean break" to move on. I also wonder if he didn’t just want
Evernham to stay out of the talent pool, as they were using this team to
cultivate future Hendrick Motorsports team members.
