NHIS race boring

Many people have complained that the race was boring.  I didn’t watch every
lap (oops just wrecked my point here maybe) but the racing I saw as very
interesting in many places.  Even though there weren’t many passes for the
lead, a lot of guys came from the back and there was a lot of passing
through the field.  And on a single groove racetrack the passes can be hard
to execute if the guy won’t give up the groove, so it made for some fender
rubbing…

All in all I thought it was pretty good racing even if it didn’t show up on
the books that way.

Actually, I think it was worth watching the entire telecast just to see Ron
Hornaday trying out a new "high groove".

FOX vs. NBC

FOX vs. NBC:

The difference in the coverage is… like it or not…
FOX/FX Guys had a chemistry and each week their
enthusiasm (sometimes got the better of them) made
you feel and put you in the frame of mind, this might
be the best race ever… after DE’s death, that was
a great accomplishment… ‘since everyone had the
wind taken out of their sails for the new season.

NBC/TNT/CNNSI Guys don’t have that chemistry.
They seem to try to hard at times and it shows. I can
understand if they are trying a harder, news reporting
approach but I don’t think that’s the case. This is a
sports event you can remain fair and still show emotion.
The best thing I witnessed this year was the pre-qualifying
interview with Michael Waltrip on the war-wagon last
week at Loudon. These races should be enjoyable not a
chore to watch and stay awake for. I noticed on the boards
the increase in posts about races being boring… since NBC
took over… I have to agree.

Just my buck and a quarter…
See you at POCONO…

Go #2, 18 & 10!

Was that on the main track or the little 1/4 mile on the front stretch?

Eel River Racing

Now that they are hiring it’s third driver for the year. What would you
think if all three drivers were’t able to qualify into the starting
field after 7 consecutive tries. Could it be possibly the cars and not
the drivers? I hope kenny is laughing now.

Michael Waltrip

Michael Waltrip is really something… he took over
the War Wagon again this week during qualifying…
pretty entertaining all in all…

Who would like the banner?

I’ve inherited it from Loudon – I usually end up holding it until sometime in
mid-August.  SO, who would like it next?  Either reply to this Compuserve
address or I can always be resched at Rbemb…@aol.com.

Somebody please step up to the plate….

Interesting Article Link on Jayski!

Okay, here’s the link.

It begins by talking about Tony Stewart’s senior year at Penn State.

Look like Jayski uses some kind of webcrawler programmed to index keywords
and names.  I always thought he read all the articles.

Pikes Peak International

Well another clean, safe, and competitive BGN race has finished at PPIR
and once again the drivers have nothing but good things to say about it.
PPIR is a good example of where the Nascar money machine has overrode great
competition.  Nascar won’t run the WC there because they don’t think they
could get enough people coming to the track.  If I recall correctly, the BGN
never sells as many tickets as WC so the fact that the stands aren’t packed
means little.  As Nascar makes its money from TV more than track attendance
I think they should go out and race on these small market but high quality
tracks.  What other 1 mile tracks allow constant 2 wide racing with the
ability for 3 wide in corners.  Also PPIR is one of the few tracks I can say
haven’t had a major crash in the Nascar series as it is so smooth the only
wrecks tend to be from people backing their cars up into the wall.

Eddie Flemke, Jr. – WOW!!

Just got back from the NASCAR Featherlite Modified race at Holland
Speedway. Flemke qualified first but missed the drivers meeting and had
to start last. Worked his way to the front and took the lead on (I
believe) lap 142 of 150. Great car and superb driving!
