Hendrick/Stewart-Haas:
Smoke over Newman
Other Chevy:
Bowyer over Montoya
Ford:
Kahne over Biffle
Toyota:
Reut over Truex
Dodge:
Keselowski over Busch (ouch, but….)
Winner: Feels like either Smoke or Jamie Mac. I’m going to hold my breath
and pick Jamie……
But if Kurt manages to pull it out and lose me four points, I’ll be ecstatic
–pig
It has been an interesting week, but nothing that pertains to RASNM,
so lets get on with the guessing….
Winner: Jamie Mac gets it done this weekend.
1. Marcos didn’t qualify well nor did he do all that well in final
practice. I hate to be down on Marcos, but I think he will finish
outside the top-20.
2. David Reutimann, on the other hand, is looking pretty stout.
He’ll notch a top 10 for Mikey.
3. DEJr is uninspiring once again. He will finish in the second 10
(11th – 20th, inclusive)
4. Brad has the pole, but he will drop back for a second 10 finish.
5. Smoke will push it hard all race and finish in the top 5.
First Segment – + 30
Second Segment – +26
The Chase points going in – + 0
Points in this race - +
The Chase points leaving - +

After blowing my chance to make-up points last week, I’m not gonna miss this
one! Looks to be a good show…
Top Five (in no order)
Smoke
JJ
Hamlin
Jeffro
Bowyer
and the winnah? UNIVAC sez Smoke overwhelmingly and I gotta agree, buuuut,
I wouldn’t be a bit surprised if JJ pulls a rabbit outta his hat.
Dark Horse? KuBu
Let the games begin!
Mike
Jus’ fer funsies, I figgered what the heck… here is my RPG for the outcome

There’s room for more columns if Pig or Tom or anyone
else wants to play – no penalty for joining late
John
I was surprised to read about the penalty on
the #33 team today.
http://jayski.com/cupnews.htm#news33wed
Childress says it is only 0.060" out of spec,
but he doesn’t say what baseline that is measured
from. All of NASCAR’s limits have got a plus-minus
allowance; if the 33 was 0.060" over the allowed
variation, it was over the line and deserved the
penalty–especially after NASCAR had warned the
team that it was right on the edge of acceptable.
I would love to see pictures and diagrams of where
the violation was, but I guess that is not the way
these things go.
Tough break for Clint, for the team, and for Cheerios.

Since we are now into the chase, I figured I should dust off the
preseason prognostications and see how well, I did…….
My picks , in alphabetical order, were
>Marcos Ambrose – Toyota
Not this year
>Kurt Busch – Dodge
Yes, he did it.
>Kyle Busch – Toyota
Him too.
>Jimmie Johnson - Chevy
Jimmie’s in the mix too.
>Dale Earnhart, Jr – Chevy
Not even close
>Carl Edwards – Ford
Cuzzin Carl is there
>Jeff Gordon – Chevy
And Jeffro
>Kasey Kaine – Ford
No Kasey in the Chase
>Mark Martin – Chevy
Mark didn’t make it either.
>Juan Pablo Montoya – Chevy
Juan missed the cutoff
>Ryan Newman – Chevy
Ryan missed it too.
>Tony Stewart – Chevy
But Tony made the cut.
Batting .500.
>7 Chevys
Only 6 Chevy’s
>1 Dodges
Got one dodge
> 2 Fords
And 3 Fords
>2 Toyotas
And 2 is the right answer
>And the winner is ……. Dale Earnhart Jr! With Juan PAblo Montoya as the dark horse.
Ain’t gonna happen this year…. for either one since they are both
out of the Chase.
Tom S.
Should be an interesting race. Marcos won the Nationwide race today
(for the third time) and Juan is on the pole…… Let the green
drop!!!
Winner: Juan or Marcos………. tight call. I would love to see
them battling it out for the checkers. wheel to wheel…..to the
stripe. But I think I am going to have to call it Juan…… Even
thought my heart says Marcos…..
1. Marcos will finish in the top 5.
2. Robbie Gordon will make a rare finish in the top 10.
3. As much as I like Jamie Mac, I have to call a second 10 (11th
through 20th, inclusive) for him.
4. The road courses just aren’t Jr’s thing. He is starting in the
back and will finish there – outside the top 25.
5. Sam Hornish had a nasty looking crash last year; he will have a
better finish this year. Sam will finish in the second 10.
Last of the catch ups:
6. Boris Said is driving the 83 this week. He’ll bring it in for a
top 10 finish.
7. Cuzzin Carl got the pole, but he will race like he practiced and
drag in a second 10 finish.
First Segment – + 30
Second Segment points going in – + 9
Points in this race - +
Second Segment points leaving - +

I love road courses! Always have and always will. Years ago, I attended
several USAC stock car races at Mid-America in Wentzville, MO and have been
hooked ever since. Saw Gurney, Foyt et al and long for the day when true
"stock" cars race once again… oh well, so much for remenicifying… here
are the top five, in no order…
Ambrose
Montoya
KuBu
Smoke
KyBu
and the winner? Heart sez KuBu and UNIVAC sez Ambrose… I’m goin’ with the
UNIVAC this week…. Ambrose gets a two-fer and his first cup win!
Dark Horse? Jaimie Mac
Will this be the first cup race where Wobbie beats Jeffro for the "Top
Gordon" title? Stay tuned for more action!
Let the games begin!
