Per a Roush Fan Club member…it’ll be Kleuver at Homestead.

Tony Johns lives in Phoenix and was (is) at the track this morning with journalist
creds…he posted the following to an e-mail list I’m on at 12:14 pm this morning.

Per Tony:
You are literally finding this out as it happens… ;-)

A grim-faced Jim Hunter and Robin Pemberton are currently standing in
the Roush Racing garage area as the #97 is being fitted for Kenny
Wallace. This is on the heels of an alleged altercation between Busch
and a PIR security guard this morning. Word is that Busch has been
suspended by either NASCAR or Crown Royal.

RPG PHX WW 0

a BIG zero!

1.  JM’s race finish is equal or below his current chase position of 10 and does
not T20
+1, 24th

2.  RW’s race finish is equal or below his current chase position of 9 but does
T20
-1, 29th

3.  KuB with KW’s race finish is equal or below his current chase position of 8
but KW gets a T20
+1, 16th for KW

4.  RN’s race finish is equal or above his current chase position of 7
-1, 12th

5.  MK’s race finish is equal or below his current chase position of 6 but does
T20
-1, 32nd

6.  MM’s race finish is T10
-1, 14th

7.  CE’s race finish is T10
+1, 6th

8.  GB’s race finish is out of T10
-1, 2nd

9.  JJ’s race finish is T10
+1, 7th

10.  TS’s race finish is T5
+1, 4th

and some spares again:

11.  JG T10 & Jr. T15 and JG beats Jr.
-1, Jr, Jr, Jr …

12.  All 4 HMS cars 5, 24, 25 or 48 get a T15
-1, 25 was 26th

13.  JG (finally!) moves up to 11th in the points
+1, been losing on this one for weeks!

14.  DH (11) gets T15
+1, 13th

and the winner is … JJ

9th or better???

Tony     6415
JJ         6363

JJ wins and leads most laps  6363 + 190 = 6553

6553 – 6415 = 138 which is 9th place (probably where they got the
9th place or better from)

Tony gets 34 points just for starting the race, right? So that
makes the margin 104 which would be 18th or better to clinch.

What am I missing???

related.

Phoenix Practice

Who ran into Newman and crashed him at practice before qualifying?  I
tuned in late, and unlike every other bit of news this weekend, Weber
didn’t ever repeat it during the broadcast Sunday.  It sounded like
Newman was blaming Junior….

UCAP (brief)

Since I didn’t get my UCAP up for the spring race in a timely manner, I
thought I’d try daily blurbs with photos to follow…..

Mom and I got to the track about 4:45 am and had to park about a half
mile from the infield tunnel entrance.  By the time we got her
motorized scooter out of the trunk and assembled, we’d missed about
half of the haulers coming in.  [Note for next year:  Mom was
*supposed* to ask her doctor for a temporary handicap placard, which
the doctor offered, but she forgot]  We left before qualifying was over
(Mom was getting tired), and we were already outside the track when
Ryan Newman crashed.

Is Rusty running in the Busch race?  Mom said Stephen Wallace was
supposed to be in the 64 car for this race, but Rusty was on the
scanner and NASCAR.com shows Rusty in the car.

I roughly calculated the distance I walked today (Mom rode her scooter)
to be at least 7 miles.  Dang my feet hurt.  Can you rent one of those
handicap scooters?
