RPG – Daytona – Michael

Race Winner: Greg Biffle… gotta go with the impound stats on this one even
though it’s a restrictor race

1: 2 and only 2 roush racers in the top 5

2: Mark Martin in the top 10

3: At least 1 top 5 chase contender will be caught up in the big one and
finish more than 1 lap down.

4: Mark Martin will gain on the points lead (be less points out of first at
the end of the race than at the beginning)

5: Kurt Bush finishes in front of Rusty Wallace

Bonus: The M&Ms car flies during the race… meaning all 4 tires are off the
ground at the same time… body parts dragging are ok as long as all 4 tires
are off the ground….. BUT he still finishes 5 or less laps down from the
winner. (He’s never done that… usually if he leaves the ground it’s a show
stopper for him)

RPG Daytona McCoy

Heck, for some reason I have absolutely no clues this week.
Still, press on regardless…

the win:  Jimmie Johnson.  Hendrick cars seem to have the measure
of the plate tracks right now, but I think Gordon’s still on the
negative side of lady luck, so I’m going with the #2 man there.

1)  Elliott Sadler gets a top 5.  Sadler’s not bad at the plate
tracks, and Yates makes tons of power….the only reason Elliott
doesn’t have a bunch of top finishes is he keeps getting turned
over before the end.

2)  Greg Biffle gets a top 5.  This is Biffle’s year, I think.

3)  neither Mikey nor Dale Jr get a top 10.  This is not DEI’s
year, and they don’t seem to have anything extra on the plate
tracks any more, either.

4)  there’s a red flag for rain.  It’s rained every day for the
last forever here in Fla, no reason for it to stop now.

5)  Kasey Kahne is the top Dodge.

bonus:  Rusty Wallace finishes ahead of Mark Martin who’s
ahead of Sterling Marlin who’s ahead of Ricky Rudd who’s
ahead of Ken Shrader who’s ahead of Dale Jarrett  (did I
miss any old guns there?)

RPG Infineon Paxton

1.  One and only one of the "Big Three" road ringers (Boris Said, Ron
Fellows, Scott Pruett) will finish in the top 10.

2.  There will be exactly two Roush Fords in the top 10.

3.  Considering just the highest finishing car of each make, the order
of finish will be Chevy-Ford-Dodge.

4.  The driver who leads the most laps also wins the race.

5.  The margin of victory will be two seconds or more.

No risk race winner pick:  Jeff Gordon.

What *is* an "Infineon"?

3.  No more than 5 starting outside the T15 finish T15
4.  The winner does not lead the most laps
5.  Jr and Mikey get T15s

Bonus:  In a lemming-like moment, at least 10 cars follow one another off the
track into a runoff area and get stuck.   DW says, "WHOA"

1700 Applicants

Infineon Preview: Ringers ones for the road
By Rick Minter, Cox News Service
            Friday, June 24, 2005
The road course "ringers" are back this weekend hoping to capitalize
on their skills when the Nextel Cup circuit, which typically races
on oval tracks, takes on the 12-turn Infineon Raceway in Sonoma, Calif.
            ———-
            Roush ‘Show’ draws 1,700
            ———-
Roush Racing’s "Gong Show" driver search drew approximately 1,700
applications, which have been whittled down to about 150, team
president Geoff Smith said this week.
Now, team owner Jack Roush, his drivers and crew chiefs will go
through the entries to give their input before the list is reduced
            again to about 25.
The finalists will then be taken to Martinsville Speedway and
Darlington Raceway for their on-track auditions, with the winner or
winners joining Roush’s NASCAR race team.
The whole process will be shown in 13 episodes on the Discovery Channel.

Busch Race tonight

I wanted to publicly wish Scott Legasse Jr luck tonight in Milwaukee. Scotty
has started three races now for this team and has been crashed in the first
two fairly soon. None of the crashes were his fault and I know he is not
going to let him curb his enthusiasm any but hope his sponsors don’t look
badly on him for those DNF’s. Scotty grew up with my youngest attending the
same small class in private school and were close friends growing up. Now
that he has moved to NC he is of course out of touch but Scott should know
his old classmates are pulling for him to finally get to show what he can
do. He has come a long way from when they used to race their bikes around
the house. <G>
