Ways to get the water out of the infield

Filed under: Uncategorized — admin @ 6:50 am

Watching the races yesterday and today, I think we were pretty lucky
that none of the cars that got into the infield grass "hooked" in the
soft grass and started flipping.

Here’s what I’m wondering–have the folks at Daytona not thought about
installing a drainage system to take a lot of that water away?  The
sports stadiums on the peninsula all seem to have special turf and
sand/clay bases, as well as a drainage system, that allow a lot of
water to pass right through.  At Daytona, it just seems to puddle.

An added benefit would be that when a car gets into the grass in, say,
the tri-oval, it wouldn’t be throwing all the mud up onto the track.
It would speed clean-up, and it would reduce the possibility of a car
coming along spinning on the mud that has been thrown up.

  take care,
  Scott

-1  No Big One that fits the above definition

>3.  The Hendrick cars (5, 24, 25, 48) have a better combined average
>finish than the Roush cars (6, 16, 17, 97, 99)

 5: 31st             6:  39th
24:  7th            16:  36th
25: 29th            17:   9th
48:  6th            97:  37th
                    99:  33rd

Avg:  18.25         Avg: 30.8

Wow!  Wonder what kind of odds you could have gotten before the race
that four of the 5 Roush cars would finish worse than 30th.

+1

>4.  Rusty Wallace is the highest finishing Dodge

-1  Almost….

>5.  Six or more Chevys will finish in the top 10

-1  So close….the sixth Chevy finished 11th.

  ’05-’04
14.12-9
15.11-11
16.13-9  (’05 14.JG-414, 18.DEJ-543)
17.13-8
18.  -5
19.  -5
20.  -3  (’04 13th MM-709)
21.  -5
22.  -7
23.  -7
24.  -7
25.  -7  (’04 14th JM-479)
26.  -8  (’04 8th MM-389, 9.JM-409, 10.RN-416)
         (’04 11th McM-431, without -25 = -406)
         (’04 MM, in 6 races, gained 320pts & passed 4 drivers)

I revisited my calculations of 1/04 to see how many drivers were
within 400 points with 10 races left in the season from ’91-’03.

In ’02 there would have been 12 drivers, 10 in ’92, ’03-MK only one.
Those 13 seasons averaged 5.5 drivers within 400pts.
’02: Marlin led the 1st 25 weeks, injured at 26.Rich, Done 29.KC.
30.Dega-TS 1st time ever led points! TS Champ with lowest
avg pts since ’75 PtSys began. 18 Dif Winners-MK most with 5.

CRU Conclusion: Better be in The Top10 to be a Chaser!

After 17.D400, 9th thru 12th are 3Pts apart!!!
Pts out of 10th (9th):
13.JG-48
14.KH-84
15.JB-139
16.DE-158
17.MW-160
19.MK-240.
