I think the team decides how many to buy.  Sometimes, economy bites them.

The Fix

I prefer to refer to The Chase as The Fix.

Assuming that all of the full time drivers start all 26 races you would have
to count on Gordon, Johnson, Busch, Kenseth, Stewart, and Newman all making
it.

That would leave four spots for all of the other drivers.

I suspect that Labonte, McMurray, Martin, and Biffle will be those four.  I
would like to nominate Harvick but he is on a lousy team.

There is something not quite right with Junior.  Either he has accumulated
damage from all of the wrecks or he is too distracted to focus and get the
job done.

RCR suing ESPN

Jayski is reporting that RCR is suing ESPN for trademark infringement.
The claim is that the stylized ’3′ used in the ESPN movie about DE was
too close to the trademarked ’3′ design that RCR owns.

I don’t know how dissimilar it must be under the law to be OK, but it
looks to me like Childress is way off base.  The two styles don’t look
similar to me at all.

RPG ATL – WW

1.  KuB will not have the points lead after the race (or after any subsequent
penalties)
2.  The 15 and the 8 will both finish off the lead lap.
3.  The top 5 will include a Dodge, a Chevy and only 1 Ford.
4.  KH will drop out of 10th spot in the standings.
5.  BLab will move into the top 35 in points.
6.  KK will move into the top 35 in points.
7.  RN will get a top 10 finish and lead the most laps.

Bonus:  A prominent driver, knocked out of the race early, will out loud on
TeeVee complain about the utter dumbness of qualifying the cars at night in the
cool, impounding them for 36 hours and then racing in the sun of the day time
and wonder in what anatomical location nascar is hiding their head.  He will
then say, maybe I shouldn’t have said that, but that’s how I feel right now and
mention his sponsors.

RPG – Atlanta – MXM

OK, the standard drill.  Two sets of random numbers
to play with:

34
17
31
29
42

29
31
16
39
7

Here is what Fate has given me (by position in qualifying):

34  88  Dale Jarrett  Ford  UPS  187.329  29.595  -1.119
17  10  Scott Riggs   Chevrolet  Valvoline  190.137  29.158  -0.682
31  21  Ricky Rudd    Ford  Motorcraft Genuine Parts  188.424  29.423  -0.947
29  37  Kevin Lepage  Dodge  Carter’s Royal Dispos-all  188.700  29.380  -0.904
42  5   Kyle Busch*   Chevrolet  Kellogg’s  -  -  -

Now what do the numbers mean?

1. DJ #88 will not finish above 34th.

2. SR #10 will beat the #17 car.

3. RR #21 will finish in the top 31.

4. KL #37 not finish above 39th.

5. KyB #5 will finish in the top 7.

These great truths are brought to you from the thin air
on the top of Moral Victory Mountain, where oxygen
deprivation and frostbite keep us from worrying too
much about whether reality decides to correspond with
what we are convinced is Morally Certain.

Bonus RPG:

Tony Stewart pushes Ryan Newman ahead of Jr. and Mikey
so that the final order is RN, TS, Jr., and MW.

What is wrong with this picture?

The 1st nine guys across the line at the Atlanta BGN race were Nextel
regulars!

Who really wants to see the NC guys dominate the BGN series? Not me.

To me its like the Super Bowl Champs playing regular season games against
college or semi pro teams.

Please do not give me that crap about the BGN guys learning from the NC
guys. All of those BGN guys that DNQ sure learned a lot.

Its all greed. The big dollar teams are grabbing up the sponsors and
basically taking most of the monies from this series and using it as a free
test session.

And, wonder why a 3 PM start at Atlanta? Would guess this was a FOX
decision.
