Last rites declaration of Ioannes Paulus PP. II (Karol Wojtyla)

"The unforgiveable sins this earth must confront and overcome are
Nationalism, capitalism, and hoarding.  The idea of every nation
should be forgot, price should be struck from the commons, and
princes should be seen for the devils they are.  The sins include
our church, secret societies, and other religions which make of
the spirit of God a divide."

RPG — Bristol — MXM -3

1. MW #15 will finish 29th or below.

-1. Finished 19th.  I got one digit right!

2. CE #99 will finish ahead of MK in the #17.
What’s up with Kenseth?  Time to shake off the
post-championship blues!

-1.  Neither had a great day.

3. TL #44 will not finish above 32nd.

-1.  18th.

4. BL #18 will finish in the top 30.

+1.

5. KK #9 will beat the #29 car.

-1.  NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO.  Maybe the #29 team
should get itself penalized more often!

> Wild prediction: there will be fewer than 5 caution periods.

Nope.

> Jr. will win the race with 9 cars or fewer on the lead lap.

Nope.  Nope.  He had a decent day, all things considered.

I Was Wrong

I recently speculated that because Cup drivers had an offweek,
that the BuschWhacker count at Nashville would be equal to
or greater than the usual 15 BWs in 4 of the first 5 NBS races of ’05.

There are only 5 BWs entered at Nashville:
Kahne, McMurray, Marlin, LaJoie, & Carl.
Any bets that 1 of these 5 won’t win?
Or that all 5 don’t finish in the Top 10?

Did the rest of the Whackers decide to go Easter Egg Hunting?
Or had to get to bed early Saturday nite for Sunday Sunrise Service?

Maybe i wasn’t so wrong after all, read:

RPG – Atlanta – MXM -3

1. DJ #88 will not finish above 34th.

-1.  DJ finished 23rd.  I’d love to see him do better!

2. SR #10 will beat the #17 car.

+1. Scott Riggs came in 9th.  Kenseth came in 31st.

3. RR #21 will finish in the top 31.

-1. RR came in 33rd.  Ooooooooh.  That point goes
        into the "moral victory" ledger!

4. KL #37 not finish above 39th.

-1.  He finished 30th.

5. KyB #5 will finish in the top 7.

-1.  Came in 12th.

Bonus RPG:

Tony Stewart pushes Ryan Newman ahead of Jr. and Mikey
so that the final order is RN, TS, Jr., and MW.

How bad was this prediction?

RN–14th
TS–17th
Jr.–24th
MW–7th!

Whassup with the DEI plate program?

Ovals vs Road courses

Saw something in another thread that made me think of this.  When you were a
little boy (or girl, not that you’ve changed along the way … well … you know
what I mean) and you "air raced" around the living room, you held the wheel
tight and vroomed all over the place.

VRRRRooooommmmm (you jerk the wheel left)
Vvrrrrrooooom (and you jerked the wheel right)
VROOM VROOM VROOM (and you jerked the wheel left and right through the esses)

Kids fantasy race on road courses, not ovals.  No one vroom (left) vroom (left)
vroom (left) …

Not sure there’s a point, other than I like road courses and could see another
one or two on the cup schedule, and now I know why – instinct.

The day the music died

July 12,1993 may have well been the end of NASCAR as we used to know it.

All we have today is clean-shaven, short-haired commercial robots carefully
selected from every region of the country.

I cannot find fault with the current crop of  Jeff Gordon wannabes for
trying to earn as much money as they can in what is often a brief career but
the old days were much more rollicking and fun.

Mike Joy

A very upstanding American Citizen warns of abuses:
http://www.speedtv.com/commentary/15859/

This may not be deemed OnTopic, but it sure is encouraging to
read that ‘one of our own’ takes the time to warn his readers
about another scam that we car guys might fall prey to.

IMHO, this demonstrates just one more time that Mike Joy is a
‘regular’ guy & continues to contribute to the knowledge of
stockcarracin fans.

Just as Chuck Steak & some others in our little newsgroup
have shared ‘insider info’ like MJ, allow me to say this about that:

Living in South Bend IN, home of Notre Dame, i have had occasion to
get the autographs of some of the greatest football players of all time.
One of those was Joe Montana.
I stood in line for an hour so that my kids could get his keepsake autograph.
When my turn came to get a potentially money-making signature(?), i told Joe
–No thanx (about signing anything for me), but thanx for providing me
with so many thrills & memorable moments.
Joe just smiled & thanked Me!

I’m guessing that our famous friend Mike Joy would do the same.

Thanx 200MPH for more than just the recent ‘sharing’.
No suck-up intended, but i never get tired of seeing u in VicLane
with DW at the ’89 Daytona 500.

PS–I still want to hear from a Catch-Can man about how much
it hurts getting their ankles hit by a spewed lugnut.

Photos from Atlanta

Posted a UCAP but it hasn’t hit the group yet so I thought I’d just post the
links to the pics.

Enjoy, I know I did.  ;-)

I’ve broken the pics down into separate galleries with my favorites in the
root gallery.
