One of the things a portion of the motorsports community has criticized
NASCAR for over the years is the "archaic" engine rules. I love it just
like it is, but, to my limited knowledge, there hasn’t been a carbureted
production car in about 15 years. Does anyone see fuel injection in the
future?

The latest dirty trick
It looks like the Homestead track is pioneering a new way to screw the
fans.
They are dividing their customers into two groups–those who buy Truck
Series and Cup/Busch tickets in equal quantities and those who don’t.
The entire first group is processed/upgraded before any orders from the
second group are processed.
So, if you had pretty good seats for the Cup race this year and want to
keep them, you are forced to buy the CTS tickets or they’ll be used as
upgrades before your renewal is processed.
It’s bad enough that you still have to buy the Busch race to get a Cup
ticket for the same weekend, but now they’re making you buy the truck
race (February) to hang onto good seats for the Cup race (November).
Wonder how long it will take for this disgusting practice to become the
industry standard….. 
This and the "no cooler" rule are two good reasons I’ll never show my
face at that track.

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (Dec. 20) — Bill France Jr., the president of NASCAR since
1972, told his employees Monday that he has cancer.
France, 66, is seeking further medical opinion. His family, which has requested
privacy in the matter, will not say what kind of cancer he has, NASCAR
spokesman Tim Sullivan said.
"The doctors have told me the illness is treatable,” France said. "I am
anxious to begin treatment and get on with the recovery.”
France is the son of William Henry Getty France, who founded NASCAR in 1948 and
who ran the stock car sanctioning body until handing over control to his son 27
years ago.
"My father is in good spirits,” said Brian France, who serves as NASCAR’s
senior vice president.
France suffered a mild heart attack in 1997 while in Japan for a NASCAR
exhibition race.
Last February, he turned over some of his day-to-day responsibilities to Mike
Helton, saying he was ready to slow down a bit. Helton was promoted from vice
president of competition to senior vice president and chief operating officer.
However, France "still has an active role in this company. He still is in this
office every day,” Sullivan reiterated Monday.

We are thinking of going in an RV for the weekend and wonder if anyone has
been to this race and camped out? Any hints or problems?

The one that I prefer is "Nascar Winston Cup Scene". Don’t be fooled by
it’s title. It covers Winston Cup, Busch, and the CTS. You can pick one up
at most Nascar souvenier shops. A subscription form is also in the paper.
I’m sure they are on the net too, but I haven’t looked for them.
Kids Jackets
I’m looking for a 6, 97, 99, or 88 kids team cotton twill jacket online, can
anyone help me?
Also anyone else think the awards dinner was boring?
NASCAR BETTER
I would suggest using the same motor for race and qualifying. If you change
a motor, you go to the rear to start. Provisionals would be used to stop
everyone from swapping an engine to get in the field. Provisionals should be
awarded by 10% of the races the team made. 4 for a team making all the
races. Have to make 10 races to get your 1st.

While I was searching for information totally relevant to NASCAR, and
any and all forms of stock car racing world wide, I noticed that Alabama
had beat the do do out of Florida, second time this season, for the SEC
championship. I was wondering if anyone else had noticed that.
